Senior Property Staff Accountant - Commercial / Residential

Position Summary:
The Property Accountant is responsible for managing the accounting functions for a portfolio of commercial, residential, or mixed-use properties. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, reconciles accounts, assists with budgeting, and supports month-end and year-end close processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for assigned properties.
  • Perform bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliations, and account analysis.
  • Record and review journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries.
  • Monitor accounts receivable, accounts payable, and tenant billings.
  • Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis, CAM reconciliations
  • Support audits and provide required financial documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and lease agreements.
  • Collaborate with property managers to review operating expenses and financial performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate or property management.
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as Yardi, MRI, RealPage, or similar systems.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with commercial, multifamily, or HOA Condo accounting.
  • Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs.
  • Ability to manage multiple properties and meet strict deadlines.
